What is a Borough Dean?                       

Ecumenical Borough Deans (EBDs) are appointed to represent their
Christian denomination or community to the civic authorities. They are unique to London and appointed in each London Borough to witness that the churches are united in a concern for the common good of the borough and are supportive of the efforts being made by elected members to serve the local community. 

One of their primary roles is to promote co-operation and understanding among the many Christian churches in the borough. A Churches Leaders Forum was established to initiate, encourage and support churches working together during the 2012 Olympics to promote events for local people and also provide a warm welcome to visitors to the borough. The Forum continues to meet 6 times a year to discuss issues of interest across all churches and to provide opportunity to network.
